   First Appointed Black District Court Judge

              Baltimore County, Maryland

   In 1990 the Hon. Michael L. McCampbell was

   appointed by Governor, William Donald Schaefer

   to the Baltimore County District Court bench

   making him the first African American judge in

   Baltimore County history.

 

   Judge McCampbell, was a former Baltimore

   County Assistant Public Defender from 1984-1990

   and served as a Baltimore County Assistant

   State's Attorney from 1983-1984. 

 

   Judge McCampbell worked as a Howard County

   Police Corporal from 1972 through 1977 prior to

   entering the practice of law.

 

   Judge McCampbell passed away in 2002.
