lawyers who have applied for judgeships who

meet the qualifications to become a judge…”

Law Offices of Jo. M. Glasco

Jo Glasco began her legal career as a U.S.

Justice Department attorney and was the

second African American lawyer to open a

private law practice in Howard County,

    Maryland in 1983.

In 1985 Glasco co-founded the Waring Mitchell

Law Society to galvanize the voice of African

American lawyers in Howard County to address

the unique challenges facing Black lawyers

who were unfamiliar to the local legal

    establishment.

Glasco was widely recognized in the

community for representing thie interests of

elderly Black Howard Countians, fighting police

brutality, and standing up to unjust treatment

of all Howard County residents.  Glasco was

frequently quoted in the news media.

For more than 25 years Jo Glasco has helped

to launch the legal careers and private

law practices of countless African American

and White lawyers by renting them first time

office space to "hang out a shingle."

Jo Glasco has been active in the Howard

County Bar Association and practices in law in

    Howard County, Maryland.

In 2008 Glasco was awarded the Lifetime

Achievement Award by the Maryland State Bar

Association for her legal accomplishments in

    the community.
